About What's Up, Meduck?
Welcome to What's Up, Meduck?—Nottingham's quirkiest, most duck‑focused local guide. We're here to help you discover the city's hidden gems, from cosy cafes and historic pubs to scenic parks and vibrant nightlife, all with a feathery twist.
🦆 Our Mission
Nottingham is a city rich in history, culture, and natural beauty—and it's also home to thriving duck populations along the River Trent, in Wollaton Park, and in countless ponds and canals. Our mission is to:
- Highlight duck‑friendly spots where you can enjoy a coffee, pint, or picnic while watching our web‑footed friends.
- Curate authentic local experiences beyond the tourist trail.
- Build a community of Nottingham lovers who share tips, stories, and favourite places.
- Celebrate the city's uniqueness through a playful, duck‑themed lens.
👥 Who We Are
We're a small team of Nottingham locals who believe that the best way to experience a city is to slow down, look around, and appreciate the small details—like a duck family paddling by. We're not professional critics; we're explorers, foodies, history buffs, and nature lovers who want to share what makes Nottingham special.
Our team includes:
- Israel – Founder, lifelong Notts resident, and duck‑spotting enthusiast.
- Jen – Content curator and cafe‑hopper.
- Bob – Tech wizard who built this site.

🗺️ Our Connection to Nottingham
Nottingham is more than Robin Hood and lace. It's a city of:
- Caves – Over 800 man‑made sandstone caves beneath the streets.
- Waterways – The River Trent, canals, and countless ponds.
- Green spaces – Wollaton Park, Highfields, Attenborough Nature Reserve.
- Creative energy – Independent shops, galleries, theatres, and music venues.
We explore all of it, always with an eye out for ducks.
